Growing up and living on a small tropical island that is literally the hub & nexus of the world, I was fortunate to directly experience many musical styles in our melting pot culture.
Playing in my father's steel band, The Mello Hawks, dabbling with piano, synthesizers & listening to my dad's weekly Old Timer's Show gave me enormous practice in the many musical styles that grace this planet, including today's AI performances.
One of my early jobs was The Music Man, a local music store run by the late calypsonian, Bill LaMotta. While there, I met many greats of the industry as they were vacationing or performing in the islands. Add to that many years serving on the V.I. Carnival Committee.
Today, I call upon those golden years of both my youth as inspiration for my lyrics writing.
