“A work of art really is above all an adventure of the mind.” ― Eugene Ionesco

Mostly psychedelic ethnic folk, mostly from the 1970s, mysterious and captivating music in a kaleidoscope of tongues. If the references help, I like to think of this mix as including music that could have soundtracked films like Valerie and Her Week of Wonders, The Wicker Man, etc. Tracks from Sweden, Estonia, Uruguay, France, Russia/USSR, Ethiopia, Algeria, Basque region/Spain, Sweden, France, Italy, Latvia, Brazil, Argentina, Morocco, USA, UK, Germany, and the Czech Republic. The mix is timestamped and I will include the tracklist in a comment.

The cover is an excerpt of from Spanish and Mexican surrealist painter Remedios Varo's 1955 work "Solar Music."

Thanks so much! I'm pleased you liked it and that you also liked that final sequence. Really appreciate the comment.

The Kitchen Sink

Excellent. Yes, the music would have made excellent alternate soundtracks to 'Valerie A Týden Divů' and 'The Wicker Man':) 'Pāri Upei' really reminded me of something by Comus. Cheers for the wonderful journey! S.

Vodem

Thanks! Comus is one of those bands I've heard referenced but have never checked out. They're on the list now!

Archaic, symbiotic, world-travelling. This mixtape led us from the desert into the circle of fire and the shelter of a tipi. United, revered, loved.

Thank you

I also have used this great picture by Remedios varo as the cover of one of my shows 6 yrs ago, i thought it looked familiar. We are journeying the same paths my friend. respect.

Vodem

Really enjoyed this absorbing listen. I loved the sinuous thread of those last five tracks from Harrison to the Plastic People!

Vodem

I'm so glad you liked it, and I'm particularly pleased you liked that sequence, which ends the mix at a pretty different place than where it started. Thanks so much for the comment.
