The name 'Serious' is derived from his mother who questioned his views on different things in life
by asking, "Why do you look at things so seriously?" De (island twang for The) Hybrid, is an added moniker for himself
describing his West Indian heritage from being born on the island of St. Thomas VI, to a Bajan father and an Antiguan mother.
In the early 80's, the family later migrated to Los Angeles, CA (U.S.) in search of business opportunities.
During that time, he was exposed to various new music styles, which further influenced him into refining his own technique & signature sound.
