In 1971, my dad, a super serious global executive, made a 3 hour mix tape off the radio and his records. My parents listened to that same mix regularly for 4 decades. Today, I’m an angel investor helping a number of production studios and audio tech companies. My job description is “Give talented people the resources to work without distraction.”
I'm picking up Dad's love of music so I can better empathize with the needs of the artists, creatives and technologists I support. I failed mixing so many times. Luckily, my main coach is super good at telling me when I stink, and when I'm doing well. Many all-nighters were spent trying to get myself to perform tracks and sets in ways that people would listen to. My attitude is that success is a function of how much humiliation a person is willing to endure, along with good friends who are willing to help a person poke fun at their own setbacks. So, thanks Dad. Someday, I'll make a set that endures 40 years too. ~Peter Meister aka WuzPup.
