Disco-Lust! cover image

Houston, United States

Reposts welcome.

I grew up on dance music—from disco to new wave to electronic—and hit it at the right time: disco in high school, 80s club culture in college. It didn’t matter who you were—we were all on the same dancefloor.

Record stores were where it started. People actually talked, shared favorites, and discovered new sounds together. You didn’t just buy music—you connected.

The clubs were global. One night it was American pop, the next a British import, a German-language track, or something out of France or Israel. Houston’s scene was on fire, with 93Q and 104 KRBE battling to break new music, plus mix shows and live club broadcasts.

Places like Numbers and Rich’s kept us there 3–4 nights a week. Video screens, heavy sampling, extended mixes—it was immersive and electric.

That rush when a song hits still hasn’t changed.

Appreciate the support and reposts.
