Wanted to try out a few things and cultivate a different vibe for this one; a bit more atmospheric & psychedelic. Something that would take you on ride as you come up at a 3am tropical rave while the place slowly starts thumping.
Mix cover lovingly nicked from Khalab's exceptional 2018 record "Black Noise 2084" which I knew I was gonna love the moment I saw the artwork for (designed by one of my fav artists, the incredibly talented Victoria Topping.) It's a perfect example of judging a book by its cover and I've been meaning to use this record as a reference point for a mix for a while now.
BN2084 is a 35min sonic journey that is gorgeous, weird, wonky and adventurous all at once. A deeply passionate interpretation of what African rhythms might sound like in the future with its roots explored and reinterpreted. I really can't recommend it enough.
