The Manalogue.com endeavor accidentally started in 2006 when a personal blog transformed into what it is now – a method for sharing the music I love. You see, the month before my girlfriend (who’s now my wife!) gave me one of the best presents ever. She was sick of hearing me complain about the lack of record stores in Winnipeg. The issue was compounded by a compulsive search for new music and so for my birthday I was given cash that could only be used for buying new records. In doing so I found what I believe is the most exciting movement in the history of music.
In 1993 I went to my first rave and started buying records shortly after. The experience was transformative but it doesn’t compare to how the newest incarnation of dance music makes me feel because it’s able to extend far beyond the reaches of three of the most prominent scenes I was influenced by: Detroit, Berlin, and Manchester.
