I'm Lauren, I'm an overly empathetic Sagittarius, self-proclaimed activist, social change agent, entrepreneur, and...aging house-head. I founded and ran NextAid for 10 years. Now I have a new and improved organization co-founded by some folks from NextAid, called Give a Beat. We are building a community of electronic music lovers that give a shit about each other and the world.
Give a Beat draws upon the positive energy of global dance music to facilitate empowering opportunities for foster children, at-risk youth and communities impacted by incarceration. Through active collaborations with music producers, promoters, artists and socially conscious companies, we are raising awareness of pressing issues and injustices at live music events and through online platforms. Give a Beat provides dance and world music lovers with a unique channel for activism and philanthropy, while affecting change in the face of growing inequality.
