Illco got his first record as a nine year old kid, Bomber by Motorhead, as well as a cassette by Public Enemy "it takes a nation of millions to hold us back". Ever since he's been collecting records. His taste developed from hip hop to soul, disco, reggae & psychadelic rock. Illco can be descibed as a DJ that plays funky music but always with from an hip hop perspective. He can be described as a dusty eclectic deejay who goes from rock to hiphop and from boogie to pop and prefers to play good music instead of just hits.
Illco is one of the founding fathers of Freakin Ill, a night which is dedicated to hip hop from the late seventies to the late eighties, Illco also started a clubnight named I Love Vinyl, a party that started out in New York, and is now a very succesfull clubnight in Amsterdam. I Love vinyl means nothing more than that only records will be played without any musical boundaries.
