Robots (Ep. 5)
There will be a time when we coexist with robots. Whether it be in the workplace or in our homes, robots are the future, and it's drawing nearer everyday.
We're already seeing a huge shift in the modern workplace with robots taking over once human-controlled jobs. Market research firm, Forrester, says:
"22.7 million jobs will be lost by 2025, or 16% of the workforce. And, while automation will create 13.6 million jobs (in software, engineering, design, maintenance, support and training), it believes the net effect will be negative: a net loss of 9.1 million jobs in ten years, or 7% of the total."
Recently, there's been a surge in robotics centered around personal needs, such as personal assistants. Robots like Jibo, the friendly, helpful and intelligent robot can help you take pictures, read messages and even order food. NAO, another popular robot by Paris-based robotics company Aldebaran, helps kids in the classroom learn how to program more interactively.
