This week we were lucky enough to have Katie Fang from SchooLinks join us and discuss Education Technology, or EdTech.
The talk centers around her company, SchooLinks, and how it is revolutionizing the way high school students find and apply to colleges. Ryan and Wade both remember a time when applying for school was cumbersome, clunky, and a downright pain. Thankfully, edtech has evolved to make things as mundane as college applications a breeze, and even fun.
Besides advancements in secondary education, there has been an insurgence of edtech coming to elementary and high school levels. In the past, the most advanced thing you would find in a classroom is a TV, VCR (movie days were the best!) and the TI-83 calculator. Now, practically every kid has a laptop or tablet—completing assignments via Google Web apps. Teachers even perform classroom lessons on Smart Boards and/or iPads.
