David Panton was involved in the free, avant-garde, experimental jazz scene for about 20 years, putting out 20 or so recordings (mainly on cassette) on his NONDO and PANTON MUSIC labels between the early 70s and late 80s. He then went into the cassette duplication business, largely abandoning regular playing, before taking up a civil service post from which he retired in 2006. After completing the MA in Music course with the Open University in 2009 he began the process of digitising the old NONDO and PANTON MUSIC releases, and resumed playing and recording his music, though not performing in public until 2015. More information about the music and recordings can be found at pantonmusic.com.
