Documenting the forgotten, classic deep and tech house sounds in a series of upfront mix tapes.
My love of house music began as a mix tape obsessed teenager and exploded in the euphoria of the late 80's - early 90's rave scene. Acid house, hardcore, rave, it was a revelation. I lapped it all up, always with one ear to the deeper side of the music, Nu Groove, DJ International, Strictly Rhythm, Junior Boys Own etc. The bedrock of all modern house music.
Through the super club age of the 90's, partying at Cream Liverpool, The Hacienda, Hard Times, Back 2 Basics, I always gravitated towards DJ's with a certain style and sound; Laurent Garnier, Danny Tenaglia, Slam, Rocky & Diesel, Derrick Carter. Coming to mixing relatively late in the mid-90's, i had to mix my own sounds and was hooked!
Now a 40 year old designer and proud dad, i'm as passionate as ever about the music. Though dancing all night is a bit beyond these old legs!
Hope you enjoy the mixtapes, cheers.
Chris
