Techno is often described as a machine-driven, hypnotic genre, but its true essence lives in the subtle ways it moves the body, mind and night. It’s more than simply four-to-the-floor; it’s a mood, a ritual and a space where machines and humans meet. For those new to the genre, it can feel like entering a cathedral without a guide. Where your imagination can do the heavy lifting.
Paris-based Sina XX is a loyal disciple of Techno and a fierce advocate for safe spaces where the crowd can experience pure freedom. His music invites you to let go and reconnect with your tribal instincts. With his new album Let There Be Light out now, we asked Sina XX to take us on a journey that illustrates Techno’s textures, rhythms and moods. From brooding atmospheres to euphoric peaks.
“For years Techno has been dominated by dystopic, black and white aesthetics,” he tells Mixcloud. “For someone like me who loves the sexyness and groove coming from Techno’s roots in House music, something was missing. Here are five sets that show how techno can be cheeky, sexy and true to the floor.”
Kiosk Radio: EGNA – 17/10/2025
Representing Kiosk Radio, Paris’ own EGNA gives us a crash course in Techno. With a little bit of Electro and Breakbeat for some extra pomp. Each track blends seamlessly into the other, with layered kicks and synths rising and falling like ocean waves at sunset. This mix highlights Techno’s hypnotic power, showing that repetition isn’t monotony but a pulse, a heartbeat that draws you in. A perfect introduction for listeners who want to feel Techno before they can name it.
fabric: Blasha & Allatt fabric x Machine Promo Mix
Meat Free Music founders Blasha & Allatt deliver an intense session for the legendary dance music institution, fabric. The record label has pushed out some incredibly forward-thinking music over the years, zoning in on the arenas of Techno and beyond. Playing tracks by Juan Trujillo, Tripeo and Blue Hour, the music’s swirling pads and precise percussion create tension and release, each transition carefully chosen to sustain momentum. This is a set for both club and living room, showing that Techno isn’t just about peak-time energy. It can also be about sculpting an emotional story over time.
Resident Advisor: RA.960 – Funk Assault
We can always trust Resident Advisor to give us quality, but this is another level. Bringing in the Swiss-Italian duo of Funk Assault for an edition of their famed mix series, the duo supplied a staggering TEN hour mix. There’s almost every slither and subsection of Techno on display, as well as Tribal, Ballroom and several dance classics. Listening to the mix, you can hear rough, industrial percussion meeting melodic fragments, demonstrating how the genre can be both aggressive and hypnotic. Consider this for the pre-party, party party and afters; it’s long enough for all three!
XLR8R Podcast 787: Nesa Azadikhah
Iranian sensation Nesa Azadikhah blessed the XLR8R Podcast with some deep, psychedelic Techno. The Founder of Deep House Tehran, which supports local Iranian and international talent in the dance music space, left no stone unturned in nearly an hour of woozy, hedonistic beats. Listening closely, you notice the subtleties: filtered hi-hats, evolving synth lines, percussive accents and pure bounce. This is guaranteed to deliver euphoria to your ears and conjure up fierce colours in your mind.
Bloop London Radio: Moody Rhythms 3 – Rough and Gloria Rose
Music collective and record label Moody Rhythms immerses you into an atmospheric, dark, hypnotic Techno soundscape on their regular Bloop London show. In an extra special episode, they invite London based artists Rough and Gloria Rose to curate a set where moody textures dominate, interspersed with shimmering highlights. It’s enough to get you gassed at 11am on a Monday morning, yet mellow enough to ease you into your day or night activities. Which goes to show how Techno adapts and assimilates to the will of the producers and musicians that make it so special.
