Clash Magazine

Since 2004, Clash Magazine has been at the epicenter of music culture. Showcasing mainstream and underground artists in equal measure, Clash has offered a space for artists to be the truest versions of themselves. From interviews to live events, Clash covers all bases when supporting musicians of all disciplines. Not only that but its long-running mix series –  available in full on Mixcloud – has shone a light on some of the best DJs in the world.

We asked the Clash Magazine team to share some of the very best mixes from their catalogue. Check them out below.

Joe Goddard

Joe Goddard has been at the forefront of music for two decades now. As a Co-Founder of the band Hot Chip – active for over 25 years – he’s had a big hand in the group’s most iconic tracks and its status as an amazing modern Indie and Pop group. On top of this, Goddard is a respected DJ and remixer. His name has become a by-word for creativity within UK electronic music.

The proof is in the pudding with this mix. It’s taken from his headline set at London venue The Hawley Arms, once fraternized by the late Amy Winehouse. Goddard’s mix is an ode to the weekend. It has enough party tracks and relaxing cuts to evoke all kinds of energy. Tune in for some incredible Synthpop, House and Electronic.

Arielle Free

Scotland’s own Arielle Free steps into the booth with Clash Magazine and brings some real flavour. The musician, producer and BBC Radio 1 host is best known for providing feel good radio shows and tunes that get your feet itching. She’s provided enough legendary moments in her career to last two lifetimes.

Always seeking out new sounds, Arielle offers her platform up to artists on the fringes but pushing their unique musical ideas forward. For her Clash mix, she lends her trademark energy, blending some stomping Electronica with House and Dance vibrations. Tap in for tracks by Yesca, Paisley Jensen, Lissy Lubeck and Arielle’s own original productions.

Prospa

Childhood friends Harvey Blumler and Gosha Smith make up Prospa. They’re an Electronic duo that has raised the stock of the Leeds dance scene both in the UK and abroad. Since 2018, they’ve been a fixture for all things club music, releasing consistent tunes and projects that challenge the confines of the dancefloor. In 2024, they reached a pinnacle of success when they played their biggest headline and festival sets. Over 250,000 people around the world gathered to watch them.

Their Clash Magazine mix is all-heat and crafted for all hours: the pre-party, party and the afters. There is something for everyone in this silky smooth blend of House and Electronic. Enough to make you forget that summer is no longer with us.

System Olympia

Italy-born, London-based artist System Olympia is a unique soul. With records spanning jittery club and blissful Ambient, the DJ and producer has carved out an exciting lane that cannot be described, only felt. As a result, there’s no predicting what she’ll be up to next. Her Clash Magazine mix is an ode to motherhood and the delicate balance of being a mother and a musician. There’s Avant-Pop and Quiet Storm, Boogie and Psych-soul in store for what is a beautiful examination of how System Olympia feels about her journey.

“I’ve compiled a mix of songs that loosely revolve around the theme of motherhood, in a way that feels closer to me,” she says of the mix. “It includes a skit from Kill Bill because it’s a feminist movie about a mother that does what she has to do for her daughter. A song from Drive – a movie about a single mother who falls in love again. A couple of songs that talk about how lonely motherhood can be and how our children can feel like an unbreakable chain to past relationships. Then a song I recorded one evening after having spent the day at Kew Gardens with my mom.”

Dr. Dubplate

UK club culture remains one of the fluid, welcoming new sounds, movements and musicians in all their glory. Helming the EC2A record label, Dr Dubplate brings the full force of club music everywhere he and the label goes. With releases from the likes of DJ ADHD, Mia Koden, Jossy Mitsu and Silva Bumpa, EC2A has found a niche, pushing out forward thinking UK Garage and everything in between.

Dr Dubplate showcases his label in full in his Clash mix, packed with rhythmic 2-Step and Future Garage that really paints a picture of that scene. “I really wanted to capture the EC2A sound so I decided to record a 100% label mix,” he told Clash Magazine. “This mix includes strictly forthcoming music from my record label EC2A and gives a real solid sonic understanding of what we’re about!”
