From Warehouse Raves to Rebel Radio: What The Mixcloud Staff Are Loving In July 2025

The Mixcloud team shares what they’re listening to in July, including West African Funk, Hardcore Punk and modern Electronica.

As soon as summer arrives, where you are becomes more important than ever. We all want to be somewhere sunny, somewhere with a refreshing drink perhaps. Anywhere, as long as it’s not inside. The beautiful thing about Mixcloud is that you can tune in wherever you want. In July, our team just so happen to be tuned into places where communities are thriving.

One of our app developers tuned into Maxi Radio, a station based in Wibar, a warehouse venue and cultural hub in Leiden, in the Netherlands. One of the marketing team spiritually floated down the River Lea to Grow Hackney in East London for a seven-hour set from Marcia DVMC. If that wasn’t enough, one of our product managers tuned into the 40-year-old station in Milan, Radio Onda D’urto, which translates as Shockwave Radio. Started by members of the anti-nuclear war movement, they’ve never run ads, have always been self-funded and consistently been at the forefront of political discourse. All that and more from this month’s Staff Picks.

Joe Armon Jones: After Dark Series on Selector Radio

Selector Radio’s After Dark series brings the sound of the UK club scene to the world with an exclusive, uninterrupted one-hour mix from a different UK DJ every week. I picked this one because Joe Armon-Jones is a cornerstone of the modern London Jazz scene! He’s in so many bands and his dedication to making music is inspirational. This mix of groovy 1980s Funk is smooth, soulful and just pure good vibes!

Baril: 4th September 2021 on Maxi Radio

Our app developer Julian says he “keeps coming back to this from Baril on Maxi Radio. “Love it for its journey through a few different styles, some killer tunes and seamless transitions. Really helps to keep me going when I need to focus.”

Marica DVMC: Girlz Be Like – Live at Grow Hackney

Our head of Brand Partnerships Joe would like to recommend Marcia Carr’s epic seven-hour, vinyl-only set from the May edition of her always brilliant Girlz B Like party. “Girlz B Like are a female, vinyl-only, DJ collective throwing parties in London and beyond, headed up by Marcia who is an incredible selector and bonafide pillar of the scene. Impeccable vibes!!”

Radio Fango FM: 29th May 2025 on Radio Onda D’urto

One of our Product Managers, Laurie, recently came across Radio Fango FM, an Italian radio show based in Milan that plays Hardcore, Punk, Grindcore, Post-Punk and more from bands around the world. She said she “chose this show as it had a lot of upcoming and newer releases from this year that I hadn’t heard yet and it’s not always easy to find newer hardcore releases unless you know what’s coming out.”

DJ Lo-Fi – Buraco

Head of Los Angeles-based record label Ohm Records, DJ Lo-Fi’s record collection specializes in Jamaican Reggae but spans an incredible spectrum of genres. Our Customer Support specialist Calum found this creator in the Afrobeat charts and saw this show was their first upload in almost two years. “From what I can tell this is all sourced from their LP collection so I can only imagine the amount of gems they have,” he said.

Desert City w/DJ Who Cares: 15th May 2025 on East Village Radio

One of our Lead Designers Ricky loves a bit of Americana. He says “this show on East Village Radio always seems to have a good mix of all types of new and old country (“the cosmic country universe”).”

DJ Marcelle: 19th February 2019 on The Lot Radio

“If you enjoy mixes that make you think something might be wrong with your computer, you’ll enjoy this,” says Chris, one of our Product designers. An apt summary for DJ Marcelle’s incredible contribution for The Lot Radio.
