I started my DJ career in Houston, in 1983, at #'s (that place is legendary for so manY things). The scheduled DJ for the evening was a no show. Since I had been doing lights for a couple of years, I was the best choice on short notice. It was not a total disaster, and it made me want to keep doing it. Texas produces some great club DJs, and I either worked with them on lights or danced till mid morning after working till 2, then dancing for another 8 hours. Listening, observing. I started picking up the basics. The first night that everything clicked was magic. And it was all vinyl.
