Lady Light is a multi talented Dj from Lusaka Zambia who
started djing in 2019 after participating in the Rackless Kazi
Dj Residency program in 2018 where she learned the craft.
This project supports women Dj's, founded by Modzi Arts in
partnership with British Council Southern Africa Arts.
She roots her style of mixing in the sounds of the
Motherland, drawing inspiration from music around the
Southern African region, as well as the rest of the continent.
Coming from landlocked Zambia which has 8 neighbours,
she has come to love the diversity of music in the SADC
region. Her love for African instruments and percussion is
evident in her choice of music creating a sonic experience
which evokes our inner urge to move.
Apart from Djing, Lady Light is a sustainable jewelry
designer who works with various materials such as copper,
stones, paper, bits from nature etc. Her Jewelry line is called
Pilu Yaka of which Artists including Sampa the Great, Wezi
and Theresa Ngambi have been
