Listening History

Las Vegas, United States
When David Haffner plays records - people listen. Sparked from a Golden-era 90s Hip-Hop perspective, refined in the Funk 45 culture of the late 90s, steeped in rare Soul, Boogie, and Disco, and ultimately set in the subsequent years of opening and operating one of US’s premier all vinyl record shops, Friends of Sound, Haffner’s distinct style champions good music of all-time - from the under-appreciated to pop music - consistently incorporating equal parts songs you know already, songs that you feel like you know, and songs you’ve never heard before.
Owner of the music licensing company Magnetic Recordings, he's been involved in well over 150 reissue projects - scouring the US to find the original musicians, secure rights, and shepherd projects onto his own labels, The Preservation Project, and well regarded labels like Light In The Attic, Athens Of The North, Numero Group, Truth & Soul, BBE, Jazzman, Big Crown Records, and others.
