Got my first decks in 1991, after growing up through the 80s being deeply influenced by hip hop culture. From the age of 10 music, breakdancing and graffiti played a huge part in my life and I tried to pick up records wherever I could to play on my Nan's old turntable. First album was Hits 1 and I remember playing Chaka Khan's "I Feel For You" over and over again, this was followed by Street Sounds Electro 9, with the opening track being Dougie Fresh's "The Show", a combination of rap, hip hop beats, the Inspector Gadget theme tune and beatboxing - I was hooked.
Being from Manchester it was hard to avoid the influence of dance music which has led to me playing anything from hip hop, jungle, drum and bass, funk, disco, soul, house, breaks. I've been in bands writing and producing - doing scratches, beats and FX. I was lucky enough to fulfil a life long dream a few years ago to play at Glastonbury
I specialise playing live events, curating the music between bands. Shout me @9000ears
