Zach introduced himself to the EDM scene while attending WMU in 1997 under the alias Governor. He began performing at house parties, where he quickly became a crowd favorite. Within 6 months he went from DJing for 50 to 100 people to well over a thousand. With dedication & hard work he worked nonstop on perfecting his skills behind the decks which then led to a residency at one of West Michigan’s most popular EDM Clubs Liquid 109 in Kalamazoo. He was then performing with artists such as John Aquaviva, Charles Feelgood, Terry Mullan, & Stacey Pullan to name a few. His performances started to catch the attention of numerous clubs and promoters throughout the state, which then began to book him for their larger events.

By 2000 the Governor was performing at clubs such as Motor (Detroit), Clutch Cargos (Detroit), Orbit Room (Grand Rapids), Sparties (Lansing), Spiral (Lansing), Streeters (Traverse City) & the Whistle Stop (Kalamazoo), along with raves at Venues like Bump @ Harvey Expo
