Martha's Vineyard, United States
Workman Song was born in 2011, when I, singer-songwriter Sean McMahon, gave up competing for Google hegemony with other Sean McMahons. The Brooklyn indie folk scene welcomed me with open arms, enamored as it was with that era's then-popular "hey ho" bands. I never wrote a song with a "hey ho," though. My songs were too long, too hard for anyone else to play with me, and I sang a bit too much about Jesus. I got recruited by Bird Courage, and later, Streets Of Laredo, and had a bunch of adventures on the road with them in the USA and Europe and met a bunch of rock stars.
The story is longer than this but -- I got the hell out of NYC and I now live on Martha's Vineyard, MA. I'm a papa. I have committed myself wholeheartedly to my Judeo-Christian faith, which has had a wild effect on my whacky artistic life. Now, here I am, experimenting with new formats, evangelizing over the airwaves and internet with my music and cadre of odd characters. This the new shit.
