Born in Connersville, Indiana. Grew up Hewlett, Long Island, New York. Graduated from G.W. Hewlett High School. Played basketball, baseball, track, and cross-country. Received my diploma from G.W. himself. He stood almost until the end of the alphabet.
Received BA in Philosophy and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from New York University, Bronx, N.Y. Played basketball and ran track, NYU. Moved to Berkeley, CA and received JD in Law, from Boalt Hall, UC Berkeley. Received MA in Urban Studies from Occidental College, Los Angeles, CA.
Bought a used guitar on Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley, CA. for $30 and became the musician I always was.

Given my reggae name, Whispering Lion in 1984. Recorded 12" vinyl "YOU AINT COOL"/"DONT BLAME YOUR PAIN ON ME". First airplay on Midnight Dread (Doug Wendt) show.
