Crafted in 2002, Houston-based Uni.form Recordings was birthed through inspiration from the release of house-inspired Soulquarian by Sista Stroke. Uni.form, the brainchild of renaissance man Jake Childs (Blu-Fin/takt/Bush Records/OM/Freerange), neither looked nor sounded like anything else on the market. A head-to-toe reflection of Childs with his characteristic tension between styles that made him the object of fascination and curiosity, Uni.form similarly played upon the advantageous conflict derived from the sparring of house and techno together, before many other labels would be so brave. With hard edged electronic sounds dueling against the soul of disco, Uni.form as a label was anything but uniform in its sound.
