TV on the Radio

North Wilkesboro, United States

Tim Vogel started out in radio at the age of 13 in 1972 at WFSR-AM in Bath, NY. It was C&W. The station was sold to Walter Taylor of the Taylor Wine Company in Hammondsport, NY. The AM was changed to WGHT in honor of his grandfather Greyson H Taylor. Walt then built a brand new FM and housed it at his one room school house on Bully Hill, over looking Keuka Lake in Hammondsport. It was Top 40. Later the station was sold and was merged into the original studios in Bath NY, to become WVIN AM/FM and played Top 40. Tim worked weekend shifts and night time fill-in. In April 1980 he went full time to 50,000 watt WHHO FM and 5,000 watt daytime WHHO AM in Hornell NY. It then split the AM/FM and the FM became WKPQ-FM. Power 105. In 1986 he went to Corning NY and 50,000 watt FM WZKZ, KZ-106 and 5,000 watt AM WCLI. He remained there until 1988 before going to work in the marketing arm of Penske Racing.
