It was the eclectic styles of electronic music that dominated the 1980s and 1990s which first inspired DJ Sunya and led him to discovering his passion for music. This broad range of dance music peaked his interest and he began paying close attention to the variety of sounds available and how they differ one from another. This meant initially that DJ Sunya was borrowing music from a wide scope of genres and styles but gradually began identifying with the different musical constructs and the paces of music which led him to learning how to use breakbeats in his practice as a DJ. This unique skill now reflects heavily in his music style and is what defines him as an artist. A few years on and he’s now also refined his music preferences and tends to lean more towards Breakbeat, Tech Funk, Tech House, Electronica, Techno, Nu Disco, Soul, Funk and Deep House.
