Steven has grown up with African percussion. Through his mother, who took African dance classes, he came into contact with African rhythms. Steven has been training with master drummer Aly Ndiaye Rose from Senegal. He performs regularly with the percussionist's orchestra. In addition, Steve teaches at the Music Academy in The Hague and he is also self taught in in African music and in Latin music. Steven performs regularly with well known bands/projects such as Charanga 214, Koffie, Para Percussion and Skip&Die. Steven's technique and improvisation on the instruments are particularly impressive. On the house music scene he usually takes his congas and timbales and often djembe with him.

Steven is currently working on several projects including Para Percussion where he plays live percussion to house music. His goal is to provide a musical element to house music.
