The Rise and Fall of a Northern Star although an album in its own right The Rise and Fall of a Northern Dubstar is a re imagining of Stella Grundy’s hit play of the same name which toured Britain to critical acclaim and featured Smiths legend Mike Joyce and Jah Wobble of PIL fame.

For this exciting new album Stella Grundy recruited a highly eclectic cast of session musicians and performers including Nick McCabe (Verve) reggae legend Dillinger, Simon Ding Archer (The fall, Pixies and PJ Harvey) Neville Staple (The Specials, Fun Boy 3), the bard of Salford John Cooper Clarke, Harry Shearer (Spinal Tap, The Simpsons) and producer writer Mike Bennett (The Fall, Specials, and Ian Brown) adding an additional twist to this exciting body of work. Although the embryo of the Album was conceived in Manchester.

It has proved to be somewhat of a cross Atlantic affair with the electronic sections being recorded in LA in collaboration with Spooki Tavi who has worked with the Foo Fighters
