My Name is Star Roman. I was born and raised in Miami, Fl. My work has involved the creation of conceptually based objects and installations since I first took an interest in photography. In 2006, I began photographing people. I also took an interest in staging my work. This has now become a very prominent feature in my portraits.

In my work, I deconstruct emotions that aren’t easily expressed, some that may be part of our childhood or adult culture. It also addresses gender roles/gender assignment, the fragility of relationships, emotional distress and the underlying threads of love that underpin society. Often times these themes are combined into installations that feature mundane domestic objects, they’re often embellished with filmstrip and other things representing a memory or the modern world taking shape.
