When I heard the news of Quincy's passing - just knew you would choose a personal selection for a tribute to one of the greatest music creators of our time. Just don't know how you managed to choose 10 - when there are hundreds. Maybe you could have a marathon live session devoted just to him? My show stopper is Dinah Washington. Time moves on, but her voice still touches the soul.

Thank you Preacher for this tribute. As a kid, I heard about Quincy Jones thanks to his work with MJ and the Brothers Johnson but I didn't know anything about his previous career until I found "Genius + Soul = Jazz" between my father's records (I'm glad you played a track from that lp). My father was into classical music, he owned only three jazz records: the other two were Trane's "A Love Supreme" and a collection of early recordings by Louis Armstrong.

Thank you. All you say is true. Who else in the business can say he has worked with Louis Armstrong and rapper 50 Cent and pretty much anybody else in between. Quincy's career is absolutely unique.

Don't change that thought, PAPA'S … BAG was written by JAMES BROWN but QUINCY JONES did an album with the same title on which his orchestra covers two JAMES BROWN songs. This one and I GOT YOU (I FEEL GOOD). I just loved QUINCY's arrangement. A great album with a stunning cover concept. On the front cover QUINCY is wrapped in a brown paper bag. Highly recommended vinyl record. Also available on a JAPANESE CD.
