My name is Zarrina aka Rina, I was born in the Boogie Down Bronx, but raised in Brooklyn by my mother & grandmother. I've lived in Williamsburg & East NY. I'm married to Hector Cabrera & we share four children. My family mean the world to me; they're my life! For those of you who may not know me, I have Multiple Sclerosis, abbreviated MS. MS is a disease in which the fatty myelin sheaths (provides a protective covering around the axons of the brain & spinal cord) are damaged, leading to demyelization & scarring. This leads to an extensive list of signs & symptoms. This disease usually occurs in young adults, & it is more common in females. MS affects the ability of nerve cells in the brain & spinal cord from being able to communicate with each other. Nerve cells communicate by sending electrical signals called action potentials down long fibers called axons, which are wrapped in an insulating substance called myelin. In MS, the body's "own immune system" attacks and damages the myelin.
