Pauli Tapola (b.1982) is a Finnish artist living and working in Helsinki. His practice consists of painting, moving image, sound, installation and photography.  In 2011 he graduated from the Free Art School. Since then he continued his studies in the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts where he is currently finishing his MFA degree.
Tapola's work begins with a systematic desire to look for something new from the collision of the painted surface and mediated light . He makes selections based on pursuing order and vast knowledge of materiality. Through his work he takes part in the course of events in the world. Tapola’s work often touches the notions of identity and technology with conventions and means surrounding them. When working in the field of painting he is interested to imitate the attributes of light (with the means of colour) and to examine the interface in which the colour pigment and light encounter.
Tapola’s work has been shown in numerous exhibitions both in Finland and abroad.
