What is the Capstone Experience? In September 2016, Arlington Public Schools opened its doors to Arlington Tech (AT), a rigorous, project-based learning, high school program that prepares students to succeed in college and in the workplace. The AT students in the twelfth grade participate in a year-long, work-based learning Capstone Experience, a culmination of the AT student’s cross-curricular, project-based learning, and career development. Choosing a specific career pathway, students have three unique opportunities, each requiring a partnership with a community organization. They may seek a position as either an intern at a job site, a project consultant, or a principal investigator. Through work-based learning, students also enhance the “soft skills” that are in demand in the work force, particularly collaboration and communication. Guests are Capstone Coordinator Laura DiNardo and two Arlington Tech seniors, Phillip Wince and Mac Allen.
