I had my first dj gig when I was ten years old and won a competition to host my own show on a new radio station in my hometown in New Zealand. Later on I did some shows on student radio in Dunedin. However I didn't really start djing till 1999 when I began playing ambient music as DJ Lotus in chill zones at outdoor dance parties such as The Gathering and Visionz. Around that time I set up my own label called Monkey Records and also started djing as DJ Monkey playing New Zealand electronica. After being inspired by balkan sounds on a visit to Berlin I started performing as DJ Balkanetic and played a lot of festivals round New Zealand and toured with various bands. After relocating to Berlin I had a residency as DJ Electric Friend playing 80's/New Wave. Lately I've also been enjoying playing soul/world/psychedelic with my mate Pachmaninov.
