Grown up in music. When I was young, my father used to give me ear training by playing lots of different things, and then asking me what I heard. Stravinsky next to Ornette, Mendelsohn next to Spirituals. Brahms next to Bach. Nowadays it's mostly jazz that fills these ears, followed by Classical (many kinds), but I love a substantial amount of Latin, South Asian, Israeli, Arabic, traditional Japanese and Central Asian music, and House — soulful, hippy hoppy, and sometimes Deep.
