The very best Ska music from it’s true golden period. Most of these tracks come from 1965 – a few are from 1964 and 1966 but it’s mainly recordings from Ska’s greatest year. What’s notable about this episode is that towards the end you can hear a new strain of the Ska coming in, commonly known as Rude Boy music (the Rude Boys (young hooligans) being the main target audience for these sounds). By the final track, Alton Ellis’s “Girl I’ve Got A Date”, you can hear a new influence beginning to appear: this was to become known as Rocksteady.
