Mário Valente, booker and resident DJ at Lisbon institution Lounge for the past 20 years, is a tireless figurehead for the city's nightlife. A versatile dj since 1994 - his sets can go from sleazy italo to techno and hi-nrg, obscure dub and funk, afrobeat or psych rock, depending on the venue -, he’s also a resident dj at Lisbon’s biggest club LUX as well as holding down regular slots at club parties (Musicbox, Le Baron, Conga Club) and festivals, alongside a weekly radio show, SALÓN FUZZ, on the popular Vodafone FM. At Lounge, he maintains an always-forward-thinking programme of bands, live acts and DJs, as well as being co-organiser of the monthly camp italo-disco fest A Night Out With The Hard Ones, and the queer-punk party Born in Flames. Over the last few years, he has been very active in London as well, playing at clubs like Brilliant Corners, Dalston Superstore, TOLA and Vortex, and as guest in parties like Beauty & the Beat, Pumping Velvet and Outré Voyage.
