Michael Laycock is a DJ in Vancouver, Canada who wrapped up a decade-long run in late 2014 as co-producer of ELECTROPICAL, an acclaimed monthly worldbeat dance party.
Since 2004, Electropical packed dance floors with a groundbreaking, eclectic mix of urban sounds with a tropical edge. Michael and DJ partner Marc Fournier served up a sensuous sonic cocktail of African rhythms, Arabian waves, Brazilian beats, Indian chills, and Caribbean grooves.
In 2015, Michael launched WORLDBEAT SESSIONS, a new night of global beats designed for dancing. Worldbeat Sessions sees Michael team up with an evolving roster of worldbeat DJs and musicians to explore the global soundscape. From Latin to funk, Arabian to Balkan, and traditional to electronic, each edition of Worldbeat Sessions is a collaborative international dance floor journey.
