While some still marginalize keys to little more than ambient texture and sample triggers, Michael Crowe works to reverse this dismissive pattern, hoping to restore attention to the keyboard as a respected performance instrument. Weathering an evolution of countercultural trends, his deep roots in jazz and funk are felt across more than a decade in the saturated Atlanta music scene, from singer-songwriter acoustic rock (Citizen Square, 2004–2009) to hip-hop comedy (Sonz of Acworth, 1997–2007) and progressive jam rock (Bodega Roja, 2009–2012).
