Raleigh, North Carolina, United States

As a classically trained pianist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, Kathy Raimey produces music that doesn't easily fit into just one category. Possible descriptions might include "ambient reflective new age", "organic electroacoustic experimental", or "music for film", or depending on what day it is...all, some, or none of the above!

There is one constant woven throughout all the music, however, and that is the underlying thread of Kathy's interest in exploring music's effect as an agent of healing, and the power of the creative process as manifested through improvisation.

At the age of 13, she began playing as a church organist, and later worked as a music educator & musician in locations including Cincinnati, Ohio; Vienna, Austria; Atlanta, Georgia; and Raleigh, NC.

Kathy holds degrees in Piano Performance from the Cincinnati Conservatory, and Furman University, with further study in Vienna with Maria-Regina Seidlhofer, and jazz studies with Ted Howe in Atlanta.
