Karima is a liberian- italian singer, rapper and beatmaker of Liberian descent based in Rome.“2G” Is the first album from Karima released on Soupu Music. In her first album “2G” she combine electronic elements, urban bass music, grime with afro influences. Her style of singing and rapping incorporated English and Pidgin English. Karima wrote all the songs on the album and composed the basic tracks using NI Maschine and selecting samples from Last Poets, Fela Kuti and Django by Tarantino. “2G” stands for second generation of immigrant children. All the Tracks on the album have a theme representing the protest against racism in Italy,slavery and colonialism in Africa.In a country like Italy where people can call Africans “negro”, “monkey”, “orangutan” or “bingo bongo” without consequences, Karima speaks out about her personal experiences wanting to raise awareness of the negative image Italy gives out to the rest of the world.
