Many people are of the opinion that reincarnation is nothing more than a New Age belief system and that reincarnation doesn't adhere to our current understanding of science.

However, the phenomena that occurs after a caterpillar has eaten 300 times it's own weight and then curls up into a chrysalis, just before a butterfly is born, has been scientifically observed and may prove that reincarnation can indeed happen.

Once a caterpillar turns into a chrysalis, it's old cells do not die off. Rather, they morph into an oily sticky substance. However, this oily sticky substance does not then morph, or transform, into a butterfly. Instead, new cells seem to begin popping up from nowhere as though they are just magically appearing out of thin air and for this reason, they have been given the name imaginal cells.
