Arkham, France
Cyanide, is Lorraine's steel industry on microgroove. It all started in 1990-93. The 1st techno parties, also named « rave parties », organised by collective Dementia, between Metz, Nancy and Strasbourg. At the turntables we find then DJ Joker.
Under this name he starts getting known alongside Manu Le Malin, Laurent Hô and Liza N'Eliaz. Hardcore. Rhythms swell, steel shrieks and dancefloors burn. Very early he stands out with his dark and tortured selections including Aphex Twin's sharp electro - who by then knows of Warp or Rephlex ? -, the decadent hymns of Italians Lory D, Anibaldi and Passarani, the German hammering of PCP and the speedcore space rockets of a radical and totally unbridled French scene. Some call it experimental hardcore. It is mostly the best way to encapsulate the fascinating radical electronic of the 90's. (BdF)
