Electronica is a broad term used for a wide range of electronic music that is designed for a variety of purposes such as foreground listening and dancing.

It also serves as background music for other forms of entertainment such as computer games, tv and film.

Electronica is not always intended for the purpose of club music and for dancing, unlike with electronic dance music (edm). Some electronica artists take a more experimental approach to their music.
