VJ_Johnny_Blitz

Native New Yorker, DJ, VJ and music-video historian focused on London’s BLITZ Club sound: New Romantic, synthpop, postpunk, electronic music and art rock. With a personal connection to Rusty Egan, resident DJ and co-founder of the original BLITZ, I explore the adventurous records that shaped the New Romantic movement and helped bring synth-pop to a wider audience.

A VJ since age 15, I have decades of club, television and event experience. I created, directed, edited and hosted Music Madness NY, a local TV series that ran for over 10 years. Credits include VJing the 1995 Adam & the Ants convention in London, DJing the 1998 Duran Duran convention in NYC, and producing, hosting and spinning at three official Adam Ant after-show tribute nights in NYC from 2013 to 2019. In 2019, I was the first American DJ invited to play the Depeche Mode bar in St. Petersburg, Russia, performing two sets.
