Hong Kong born Joel Lai began DJing in the territories night-clubs and dance events since 1987. he was the first to bring the Dance Events Culture & The underground sounds of the UK & US to Hong Kong. Since then he has continued to embrace all that the international arena has to offer and continue to mold the Hong Kong market, turning this former colony into one of the most progressive and exciting dance scene in Asia.
As Paul Oakenfold said at the time of the Unity party to mark Hong Kong’s handover to Chinese sovereignty in 1997, “Joel Lai can hold his own with the European DJ’s”*. He has played alongside the biggest names in the industry and continues to tour though-out Asia and Europe in major venues such as the Ministry of Sound (UK), Heaven (UK), Lulu in Germany, and Tokyo’s Loop – to name a few.
