I DJ'ed actively from 1998-2007. From 1998-2003 I helped run a small, eclectic night in San Francisco, where we were lucky enough to play with great DJs like Charlotte the Baroness, Corey Black of Imperial Dub, Felix the Dog, and many others. We hosted our own roving parties and occasionally joined forces with our heroes -- Bulletproof and Melon in SF, the Heavenly Social in London. Our ethos was eclecticism -- we played whatever we were interested in, and the art of DJing was about making that variety hold together for the people at the party. House music of every kind, funky downtempo and classic hip hop, electro disco, polyrhythms, even a little anthemic indie. Mostly we were out for a good time, and we had a lot of those. I left San Francisco in 2003 and continued DJing in Stockholm, London, and Geneva. I'm still a DJ and stay devoted to the selecting and mixing via the web, even if playing out happens only rarely anymore.
