James Hewitt (The Grump) has been collecting records and deejaying since 2000. His love for Jazz and other segues of musical culture led him to pursue gigs at art and cultural events in both Toronto and the United States. Other gigs include supper clubs, local bars, nightclubs and alternative spaces such as the Drake Hotel and the AGO.
A valued learning experience with the recording label Play Records from 2003-2008 allowed for an education in sound engineering and music production. James enjoys merging different music types into a cohesive sound, unifying genres and eras of jazz, funk, soul, rock steady, disco, rap and rock.
