I'm a 67 year old Welshman who was brought up on Soul music as my mum loved the Stax and Atlantic sounds of the 60's and 70's. I have an abiding love for classic soul artists like Otis, Sam & Dave, Percy et al to this day from my childhood. I was introduced to up-tempo soul by some older pals who were Wheelers and Torchers and I was soon addicted to what soon became Northern Soul. I hardly missed an all-nighter for the first 5 years of the Casino and along with the rest of the North Wales soul crew, we travelled everywhere in pursuit of our passions.
My love for Soul and Northern Soul in particular is undimmed and I still get goose bumps when I hear a track I haven't heard for all those years, and I still get quite emotional when I hear a golden oldie as all that love, friendship and those passionate feelings come flooding back. The Northern Soul torch still burns bright, especially in North Wales and the legacy of this music is influencing the young again today - priceless!
