Doing my best, workin hard and praying it makes a difference.
A few days after 9/11, I decided that I couldn't work in advertising any more, and had to find my life's purpose. After 2 years of searching, I finally gave up and spent the last 10 days of 2003 cleaning my room, finishing unfinished projects and organizing my bookshelves, threw away unmatched socks, etc.. I wanted to start the new year with a totally clean slate.
On New Year's Eve, 2003, I stayed home to pray and meditate and had an epiphany that night that my life's purpose was to be a songwriter. I'd neither sung nor written songs before (but had played piano and always wanted to but never could), so for 2 hours a day, every day, I learned to sing and started writing songs for the first time in my life. That summer, I started to put my music "out there" and within a few months found myself performing at the Democratic National Convention, in churches in Florida on tour with Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan.
